International Winter Piano Academy FEUERWERK is an annual invitation-only academy for selected young pianists from around the world. It is organized by Konzert- & Kulturfreunde Einbeck e.V. with the help of sponsors and countless volunteers around the city of Einbeck. It is established and led by its artistic director, pianist Gintaras Januševičius.
FEUERWERK is an exclusive invitation-only academy, closed to public applications. Eleven participants are selected based on their outstanding talent and achievements during the past year and recommended by partnering competitions, academies, foundations, and universities.
Its first editions in 2017-2020 featured pianists from Australia, Belarus, Canada, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. Students attend piano lessons as well as lectures on self-management and performance psychology. They also benefit from individual physiotherapy sessions and work in a recording studio.
