The Scientific Council coordinates research activity, providing institutional, administrative and logistical support to the research subdivisions subordinate to the Doctoral School. The Scientific Council is monitored by the AMTAP rector and coordinated by the vice-rector for scientific and creative activity and the director of the Doctoral School.
The Scientific Council has the following responsibilities:
- elaboration of the AMTAP Research and Innovation Strategy that is submitted for Senate approval;
- establishing the scientific activity directions of AMTAP and of its research and innovation subdivisions;
- elaboration of the institutional regulation for organizing and functioning of doctoral study programs that is submitted for Senate approval;
- approval of AMTAP research projects and of the results obtained;
- selection of editors and academic boards for AMTAP scientific publications;
- examination and submission to the Senate for approval of the AMTAP annual scientific activity plan;
- evaluation of the thematic area of AMTAP activity in research and innovation, of the results achieved by the scientific research laboratories, examination of the AMTAP annual scientific activity report which it recommends to the Senate for approval;
- examination and submission to the Senate for approval of scientific monographs and didactic-methodological works proposed for publication;
- examination of matters related to scientific collaboration with national, regional, and international organizations;
- examination, selection, and submission to various national and international competitions of the scientific projects of AMTAP collaborators;
- approval of the annual plan of scientific events organized within AMTAP;
- approval of decisions regarding the establishment, division, merger, or dissolution of doctoral schools within AMTAP;
- approval of the internal regulations of the doctoral schools;
- endorsement of fees for doctoral-level studies proposed by the doctoral school councils, and presenting them to the Senate for approval;
- approval of doctoral study programs of the doctoral schools, as well as those organized in cotutelle with other IOSD (institutes), in the country or abroad;
- approval of the framework model for cotutelle doctoral agreements of the doctoral schools;
- approval of acts, agreements, and partnerships concerning institutional collaborations between AMTAP’s doctoral schools, as well as between AMTAP’s doctoral schools and doctoral schools within other IOSD, in the country or abroad, including participation in international consortia and conducting cotutelle doctoral studies with another doctoral school within AMTAP or with another IOSD in the country or abroad;
- adoption of measures necessary to ensure the quality of doctoral studies, for the proper conduct of periodic evaluations of doctoral schools and doctoral supervisors, and for the adherence to ethics and deontology norms by doctoral supervisors and PhD students;
- selection of doctoral supervisors for activity in a new doctoral school; mediation of conflicts between PhD students and doctoral schools, and, in case of failure to resolve these by the doctoral school councils, mediation of conflicts between PhD students and their supervisors;
- annual development of the admission methodology and the establishment of the list of documents required for admission to doctoral studies, at least 6 months before the admission date.
