Curriculum Vitae

The Department of Theatre Studies and Scenography is part of the scientific and practical activity in the field of theatre art. It deals with research into the history of theatre, theatre theory, theatre criticism, theatre pedagogy, organisation and mediatisation of the theatre process, theatre management, the production of scenographic works, writing plays and scripts.

By training students in the specialities of Dramaturgy and Screenwriting, Theatre Studies and Theatre Management and Scenography, the department offers graduates the opportunity to deepen their knowledge within the second cycle, at higher master's studies in the following study programmes: History and Theory of Audiovisual Arts, Theatre and Film Scenography and Dramatic Writing, followed subsequently by doctoral studies, in the third cycle.

The students of the Department participate in international scientific conferences, discussions and meetings after theater performances (round tables within the framework of ClassFest, the Reunion of Romanian Theaters, the Film Festival), Scenographic Exhibitions, various national essay and dramatic writing competitions, Summer Schools (Artistic Synapses) with the generic - Experiment and innovation in theater and cinema, Summer Camps, organized abroad of the Republic of Moldova. Also, the students are involved in the organization and promotion of the International Festival of Theater and Film Schools ClassFest, which is currently a unique event in the Republic of Moldova, known throughout Europe.

Annually, the department organizes multiple Dramaturgy Workshops, Screenwriting Workshops, Workshops, Theatre Management and Writing Workshops for Cultural Projects. Roundtables with the participation of theatre and cultural personalities, writers, journalists, book launches, etc.

The department has as guest lecturers in these workshops renowned names in the world of culture: Aura Corbeanu, Nina Mazur, Ivan Vîrîpaev, Marius Ivaskevicius, Florin Vidamski, Daniela Lemnaru, etc. Graduates of the Department of Theatre Studies and Scenography can later work as: film scriptwriter; playwright; newspaper or magazine reporter/editor, specialist in performing arts and mass media; director of communication and public relations in artistic institutions; literary secretary in performing arts institutions (responsible for production dramaturgy, repertoire strategy); manager of cultural projects and programs; producer of performances; researcher in the history, theory and aesthetics of theatre and performing arts; theatre/film set scenographer;
