In 1992, at the request of the National Television, the Institute of Arts (now the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts) enrolled the first class in the TV Directing specialization within the Department of Theater Directing.
A few cohorts followed, and only after 15 years, in 2007, the Multimedia Department was formed with the aim of grouping all professions related to the fields of Cinematography, Television, Broadcasting, and Photography.
Since 2018, the department has been reorganized and renamed the Multimedia Department.
The Multimedia Department educates students in the field of cinematic art, offering specializations in Film and TV Directing, Film and TV Imaging, and Film and TV Production. Students in Film and TV Imaging also study courses on the history and art of photography. Those in Film and TV Production study the organization of the filmmaking or TV product creation process through disciplines in management, marketing, business planning, and finance in the field. They also study the technologies used in livestreaming processes to manage such a broadcast. Additionally, all students in our department benefit from the course on film studio technologies as well as other multimedia technologies.
Our department’s main objective is to train future professionals in the film industry, providing them with a solid foundation of knowledge and practical skills. With the help of a qualified and experienced teaching staff, our students receive guidance and constant support in developing their creative talents and technical abilities for work on film sets.
During their studies, the Multimedia Department organizes various masterclasses and workshops with national and international experts in cinematography, film directing, directors of photography, photographers, and film and TV producers.
Moreover, our department’s students participate in numerous national and international film festivals. These experiences give them the opportunity to present their works to a global audience and to interact with other students as well as film professors and industry professionals. The results achieved by our students, who have won various prizes and honorable mentions for their creations at these important events, are a source of pride for the department.
Graduates of the Multimedia Department have diverse career opportunities. In addition to film and TV directing, they can practice film and television editing, or vlogging, and can work on filming crews as Assistant Film Directors, or Assistants to the Director of Photography, etc. Thus, they can choose to work in film or television studios, to participate in various film productions, or to develop their own personal brand as freelancers.
The flexibility and diversity of the training we offer open many doors in a continually evolving industry. Our department benefits from modern facilities and state-of-the-art filming and video editing equipment, enabling our students to put theoretical knowledge into practice and to develop practical skills in a professional environment. We also offer internships in collaboration with studios and production companies in the country, allowing our students to gain real-world experience in their field of interest.
