Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts

The Rector’s Message

The Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts (AMTAP) is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the country, but also the only state institution in the field of higher artistic education in the Republic of Moldova. AMTAP’s mission is to provide advanced professional training for qualified specialists with higher education in the fields of music, theatre and performing arts, choreography, multimedia, visual and decorative arts, design, and culturology, as well as to train future teaching staff for the cultural and arts sectors.

The didactic process at AMTAP, oriented toward shaping artistic personalities, is highly individualized. It involves not only transferring information from teacher to student, but above all forming and shaping attitudes and creative, non-traditional approaches. We prepare specialists of unique value, and for this reason our teachers must find the “key” for each student, taking into account the student’s talent, character, and personal specificities, as well as the program studied.

The final result of this didactic process is appreciated by department specialists and by the public, as examinations in specialty disciplines are usually open and conducted in the form of concerts, performances, and exhibitions with open access to all interested. In addition to the course and thesis examinations conducted in formats open to the public, AMTAP regularly organizes numerous class concerts, department performances, recitals, and exhibitions in the institution’s halls, as well as in theaters, at the philharmonic, and in city galleries. The student Mărțișor celebrations and the AMTAP Concert Gala have already become traditions, held every spring.

Dear future AMTAP students,

All who feel they have talent and the desire to become ARTISTS, We warmly invite you to join our great family called AMTAP. I assure you that there is no other institution in our country where the study process is based on very close collegial relations between teachers and students, where deans and heads of departments know every student by face and name, and even know the problems each one faces.

Like parents in a family, our teachers try to convey to students all that is most precious: knowledge, mastery, love of country, people, and beauty, self-giving in the name of art; to reveal the secrets of the profession and mastery by sharing with each a portion of their talent and a piece of their soul. Like parents, they take pride in their students’ achievements, suffer for their failures, share the laurels of success, yet also bear the burden of setbacks; they are proud of what they accomplish and also learn from them, trying to discover each student’s personality and individuality, to develop their gifts and creativity. Despite appearances, the artist’s profession is by no means easy. On the path you are starting, moments of revelation await as you explore the fascinating world of beauty, but there will also be difficult moments of doubt, perhaps even despair.

Sometimes you may even be ready to give up, to choose something more real, more concrete, that yields immediate and tangible results. Yet I assure you that those who persevere will overcome these trials and savor the satisfaction of success, the joy of creation, and the appreciation of those around them, and will remain, as we do, eternally in love with art and faithful to this wonderful profession of ARTIST.
