CULTURAL STUDIES AND ARTISTIC MANAGEMENT – RELEVANT CENTER OF EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY TRAINING AT AMTAP
The Department of Artistic Management and Culturology, within the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts (AMTAP), offers modern university programs, dedicated to those who want a career in the field of culture, arts and creative industries. The studies are designed in accordance with the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Process), ensuring academic recognition, international mobility and compatibility with European educational standards. The educational process includes student-centeredness, project-based training, ensuring development on the creative and scientific dimensions. The educational offer of the department includes bachelor's and master's programs, which combine academic rigor with practical applicability and openness to the cultural labor market:
Title conferred: Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Studies and Artistic Management The program offers solid training in the analysis of cultural phenomena, the organization and management of artistic projects, the valorization of cultural heritage and the development of managerial skills in the creative field.
Title conferred: Master in Cultural Studies and Artistic Management The program deepens cultural research, heritage promotion strategies and artistic event management, training specialists capable of coordinating complex cultural projects at national and international level. By integrating theoretical studies, applied research and professional practice, the Department asserts itself as a pole of academic and creative excellence, offering students a complete educational path – from bachelor’s to master’s – in a dynamic, interdisciplinary university environment connected to contemporary cultural realities. The Department also contributes to advancing in the educational path – from bachelor’s and master’s – to doctorate, within the Doctoral School of AMTAP. The first graduate, a doctor specialized in cultural studies and artistic management, is the current head of the Department, Mr. Iurie BADICU.
UNIVERSITY HISTORY, ACADEMIC TRADITION AND INSTITUTIONAL IDENTITY
The Department of Artistic Management and Culturology is part of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts (AMTAP) in Chisinau – the main institution of higher artistic education in the Republic of Moldova. Founded in 1965, the department has a solid tradition in training specialists in the field of culture, arts and artistic management, being in its history also a separate faculty within the State University of Arts, later reorganized into AMTAP. Starting with 1992, the activity of the department has been deeply reconfigured structurally and curricularly, in accordance with the transformations of contemporary society and the orientation of the national educational system towards European standards of higher education. Evolution of study programs and official recognition: until 2024, the bachelor's program operated according to the Nomenclature of professional training fields and specialties in higher education (GD no. 482/2017), with the code 0229.1 Culturology, included in the professional training field 0229.1 Culturology and the general field of study 022 Humanities. The program was organized both full-time and part-time, and graduates obtained the title of Bachelor in Culturology and Artistic Management. In accordance with Annex 1 to MEC Order no. 1223 of 03.09.2024 (GD no. 412/2024), the program was updated and renamed to 0219.1 Cultural Studies and Artistic Management, being included in the professional training field 0219 Cultural Studies and Artistic Management and the general field of study 021 Arts. The bachelor's program lasts 3 years, totals 180 ECTS credits, is organized exclusively on a full-time basis, and upon completion of the studies, the title of Bachelor in Cultural Studies and Artistic Management is awarded, recognized at national and European level.
